Temple University — Kornberg School of Dentistry, Philadelphia, PA
The project at the Old Dental School Learning Commons consists of providing architectural, interiors and engineering services to address the needed renovations and upgrades to the various lecture halls. The project area consists of approximately 4,500 SF on the third floor of Old Dental School building.
Old Dental School is a 4-story, 93 year old concrete building. The extent of the renovations consists of demolishing the existing non-load bearing partitions and finishes within the work area. We then created an entirely new layout that includes all new finishes and MEP systems, replaced the air handling units and added an acoustical component. In addition, we were asked to conduct a window replacement feasibility report for the 3rd and 4th floor exterior windows.
The goal of the new design was to create two, new Flexible Learning Commons so as to expand the existing amenities of the Kornberg School of Dentistry. Each of the two Learning Commons will accommodate 84-96 students, with a total of 168-192 students. Both Learning Commons include all current technologies used throughout campus along with Class Capture and Web Ex capabilities.
