Pearson Hall - A&P Classrooms
Temple University
Philadelphia, PA
Temple University renovated laboratory space in Pearson Hall to support the growing needs of its Kinesiology program. The department’s teaching labs had previously been dispersed throughout the building and many of the spaces were outdated and too small to support contemporary instruction. O Z Collaborative worked with university facilities staff and faculty to develop a program that would consolidate these labs into a series of larger, modern classroom laboratories designed for Anatomy & Physiology, Athletic Training, and Exercise Science instruction.
The renovation transformed existing interior space into flexible teaching laboratories that support both lecture and hands-on learning. Each lab was designed to accommodate modern teaching methods while improving comfort and functionality for students and instructors. Architectural improvements included new insulated wall assemblies for acoustic separation, updated doors and finishes, acoustical ceilings, and new lighting systems that brighten the learning environment.
New casework and plumbing fixtures were installed to support laboratory instruction, while mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems were reconfigured to accommodate the technical requirements of the new labs. The project was completed during the short summer break between academic semesters, allowing construction to proceed without disrupting the university’s teaching schedule. The completed renovation provides Temple University with updated teaching laboratories that support the continued growth of its kinesiology and exercise science programs.
